10 life-faith ideas for the school holidays – Day Ten

1 October 2021

Pope Francis has invited each one of us to enter into the Year of the Family from March 2021 to June 2022.

During this period where our intentional life and faith focus is placed on the family, the Diocese of Parramatta’s Mission Enhancement Team (MET) have designed 10 creative life in faith ideas for the school holidays.

Each day, discover creative, fun and engaging activities to connect with your family and with God and spark some faith-filled conversations through this user friendly, step-by-step resource offering quality time for connection both on and off your screen/mobile device.

We hope that by using this resource to enter into the Year of the Family, we can connect more with family and friends during this lockdown period.

Day Ten – Family food tradition

For many, cooking and home are the places where we learn our earliest traditions. This time in lockdown could be an opportunity to learn some recipes from other people and from different households! While you and others are on the phone, you could share a session of cooking and conversation as a way of celebrating God’s presence in the other!

Prayer for before or after the meal:

Bless us God, for these humble gifts we are about to receive, passed on from generation to generation, as a source of life and nourishment. Like Jesus, friend to all humanity and created things, we ask too that this food may sustain us as we live our lives in service to the other, especially for those who go without. Amen.

We thank you for participating in our family life-faith activities, and we hope that during this time, these activities have strengthened your family bonds as well as being a great opportunity to speak about God and see how God lives in our lives.
