You are invited to attend the 2022 Abraham Conference, which will be held in person on Sunday, 14 August 2022 from 2–5pm AEST at Amity College, Auburn Campus, 26-28 Kerr Parade, Auburn NSW 2144.
The Abraham Conference plays an important role in bringing Jews, Christians and Muslims together to discuss contemporary issues of concern for the members of the three religions and for the wider society.
The theme of the 2022 Abraham Conference is Religion for the 21st Century: Recovering faith in Faith.
Historically, the Abrahamic religions shaped lives and civilisations. In the last century, they are becoming increasingly marginalised, seen as a matter of private devotion and personal morality at best, or divisive and violent at worst. But religions remain a powerful social force. With the issues that we face in our globalised, pluralist world, how can we recover faith in Faith?
Exploring this question with us, Geraldine Doogue, renowned journalist, radio and television presenter, will engage in conversation with our moderator, John Cleary, veteran ABC broadcaster. Joining them on stage will be three panellists from the Abrahamic faiths:
- Rabbi Moshe Givental, North Shore Temple Emanuel.
- Rev Dr Rob McFarlane, Presbytery Relations Minister, Uniting Church in Australia.
- Associate Professor Salim Farrar, Sydney University Law School.
We will also invite our audience to join in the conversation by participating in a lively Q&A with speakers, panellists and each other.
The Abraham Conference is supported by the Diocese of Parramatta and the Columban Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations, based in the Diocese of Parramatta, in partnership with Affinity Intercultural Foundation, Australian Egyptian Forum Council, Australasian Muslim Times (AMUST), NSW Council of Christians and Jews, Ecumenical Council of NSW, Indian Crescent Society of Australia (ICSOA), NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, and the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of NSW & ACT.
The organisers look forward to your participation in a stimulating and thought-provoking afternoon of interfaith dialogue and friendship.
Halal and kosher vegetarian refreshments will be available.
