Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, has provided the following reflection for the Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches his disciples how to settle disputes. The parties who have a misunderstanding should first settle it between themselves.
The offended party is asked to take the initiative. The goal is to win over the offender. Secondly, if dialogue won’t work, one or two people as witnesses can help convince the person to change. If it still does not work, then the matter is brought to the church.
