Cardinal Tagle’s reflection for the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

25 September 2023

Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, has provided the following reflection for the Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus continues to teach us about God’s mercy and generosity.

Jesus gives his disciples another parable. There was a landowner who hired workers for his vineyard at different times of the day. Come evening, the landowner gave each worker “the usual daily wage.” Those who worked at the vineyard from five in the morning grumbled because they “thought that they would receive more” compared to those who started working later.
