After another challenging year, Caritas Australia is calling on Australians to renew their faith and commitment to helping those less fortunate by giving a gift that makes a real difference for those in need this Christmas.

This year, we are offering a range of print and digital Global Gift cards that you can give to your family and friends. When you buy a Global Gift, your loved one receives a special card and you help raise much-needed funds for programs that provide essentials like food, water and education to people living in poverty.

Our print cards feature Maria from Tanzania. Like many women in this region, Maria never had the opportunity to go to school, and her family often experienced food and water insecurity. Now, with the support of Caritas Australia’s partner, Diocese of Mbulu Development Department, she has learnt how to read, write and count, and has access to clean water to grow enough food to feed her family.

For the first time, Caritas Australia also has a range of digital cards that feature Christmas illustrations from children around the world. From Bangladesh, to the Philippines and Vietnam, these beautiful illustrations, available as digital e-cards, bring home the true meaning of Christmas.

The proceeds from Global Gifts go directly towards Caritas Australia’s development programs that support vulnerable communities in Australia and overseas to forge a path out of poverty.

“More than ever, Christmas acts as a timely reminder of how important it is to show solidarity with and generosity towards our sisters and brothers in need. In his most recent encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis invites us all to show solidarity and put the needs of others ahead of our own,” said Kirsty Robertson, CEO of Caritas Australia.

“A Global Gift can make Christmas shine brighter for vulnerable families around the world, helping people put food on the table, access clean water, and send their children to school, and forge a path out of poverty. With your help, this holy season Caritas Australia is continuing to work with our partners to support the world’s most vulnerable, working towards a just world, where all may thrive.”

Orders for printed cards need to be placed by December 10 so that they arrive in time for Christmas.

With thanks to Caritas Australia.
