The Easter Octave was the perfect time to “resurrect” the website of the Conference of Spiritual Directors (CSD) Australia. About 30 members from all parts of Australia gathered on Zoom to celebrate the re-launch on 6 April.
Bishop Greg Homeming from the Diocese of Lismore was invited to speak about the importance of the ministry of spiritual direction, commenting that although he did not train as a director, he knows the importance of helping a person seek the presence of God in their lives.
Br Peter Carroll FMS, President of Catholic Religious Australia, officially relaunched the website saying it was a great asset to people seeking a spiritual director. Br Peter commented that knowing the presence of this group, helps leaders like himself point others towards the association for trained spiritual directors.
The Conference of Spiritual Directors Australia was founded three decades ago. Its members are committed to a contemplative approach to the ministry of spiritual direction and come from all states and territories of Australia. The Zoom session began in a contemplative way, listening to the words of our current Senior Australian of the Year, Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr Baumann as she spoke of the deep listening of Dadirri.
The current administration team, along with members, are delighted with the result of the redesign by Karen and David Cheah. Bernadette Micallef ably reviewed the newer aspects of the website for the members, including:
- Find A Director
- Profiles of Members
- Frequently Asked Questions
Sr Rita Malavisi, in her role as current National Chair (herself a digital immigrant), entrusted the website to the Patron of the Internet – St Isidore.
The digital presence will never replace being face-to-face. Most of members of the Conference of Spiritual Directors Australia see people in person. Due to the global pandemic, most have adapted to also offer spiritual direction online.
Sr. Rita Malavisi is the National Chair of the Conference of Spiritual Directors Australia.
With thanks to the Conference of Spiritual Directors Australia.
