Last month, Father Ed Kenny celebrated his 60th priest anniversary with close friends and family. Born in Armidale on October 20, 1938, Father Kenny was ordained at the historic Armidale Cathedral on July 23, 1963. After completing his seminary studies at Sydney/Manly Seminary, he entered the Diocese of Parramatta in August 1996 and was incardinated on January 28, 2004.

Throughout his six decades as a priest, Father Kenny has served in a variety of capacities, including:

  • Supply Priest, Gladesville Parish (November 1994)
  • Hospital Chaplain, Blacktown Hospital (June 1, 1999)
  • Assistant Priest, Kingswood Parish (June 1, 1999)
  • Assistant Priest, St Patrick’s Parish Blacktown (October 1, 1999)
  • Assistant Priest, Rooty Hill Parish (June 29, 2001)
  • Hospital Chaplain, Blacktown Hospital (January 31, 2012)
  • Retired Priest, Lalor Park Parish (January 31, 2012)

Despite his many years of service and dedication, Father Kenny has remained a humble and deeply respected member of the community. Unlike grand celebrations typically associated with such milestones, Father Kenny chose to mark the occasion with an intimate gathering of close friends and family. He has always lived a modest and unassuming life, focusing his energy on the service of others rather than personal recognition.

Throughout his six decades as a priest, Father Kenny’s humility and dedication have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he has touched. Parishioners, friends, and fellow clergy members have often cited his kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith as sources of inspiration in their own lives.

As Father Ed Kenny reflects on his remarkable journey, the community joins him in celebrating not only his 60 years of priesthood but also the enduring spirit of humility and service he embodies. His life serves as a testament to the profound impact one humble individual can have on the lives of many.
