With the sad news of Bishop Bill’s death over the weekend, the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle has been working on Funeral Liturgies in line with current COVID restrictions.

Given the limited numbers in the Sacred Heart Cathedral for the Funeral Mass, a Vigil Liturgy will take place at 6.30pm next Tuesday, 23 November at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Newcastle, for clergy and parish leaders only. Clergy in the Diocese of Parramatta that may have known and served with the Bishop may be interested in attending the Vigil Liturgy.

Given the times, registration beforehand is necessary and all attendees must be fully vaccinated and able to provide evidence of their COVID certificate. Registration is available via this link.

Clergy are also welcome to attend a 5.30pm supper preceding the Vigil Liturgy, this will take place in the Victor Peters Suite, 841 Hunter Street, Newcastle.

The Funeral Mass will also be livestreamed at 10.30am next Wednesday 24 November, and will be available via this link.
