Chrism Mass on Wednesday 23 March 2016

The Apostolic Nuncio to Australia, Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana, will preside at this year’s Chrism Mass, which will be concelebrated by the priests of the Diocese of Parramatta, assisted by the deacons. During the Mass, the Oil of the Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick will be blessed and the Oil of Chrism consecrated. These holy oils will then be given to the parishes for use during the year. During the Mass, the priests renew their commitment to priestly service. Everyone is welcome. Mass at 7.30pm in St Patrick’s Cathedral.

Good Friday Walk from Blacktown to Parramatta
Friday 25 March to Saturday 26 March 2016

The Good Friday Night Walk will again begin at St Patrick’s Church at Blacktown at 10pm. The Diocesan Youth Council has developed a program that will deepen our appreciation of the Year of Mercy in the context of Holy Week and our diocesan theme, ‘Mercy has a Face’. Testimonies of young people who have received mercy will be a highlight for reflection at each Station.

St Margaret Mary’s Parish at Merrylands has replaced Sacred Heart Parish at Westmead due to the ever-growing number of pilgrims each year and the popularity of the walk. We expect about 1500 people this year if good weather permits. All participants must register through the Facebook event page.

The schedule for the night:
Mary, Queen of the Family Parish, Blacktown – 10pm
Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Seven Hills – 11.30pm
St Anthony’s Parish, Toongabbie – 1am
Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish, Wentworthville – 2.30am
St Margaret Mary’s Parish, Merrylands – 4am
St Patrick’s Cathedral Parish, Parramatta – 6am
