The aim of the Saint Patrick’s Day Business Breakfast is to cultivate and foster a relationship between Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and the business community in the Diocese of Parramatta.

The keynote address of the breakfast was delivered by the Chancellor of the Australian Catholic University (ACU), former Premier of New South Wales, the Hon. John Fahey AC.

Mr Fahey acknowledged the dignitaries present, including Julian Leeser MP, Federal Member for Berowra, the Hon. David Elliot MP, NSW Minister for Counter-Terrorism, Corrections and Veterans Affairs, Julia Owens MP, Federal Member for Parramatta, and Alan Cadman, former member for NSW Division of Mitchell.

“I wish each of you a very happy St Patrick’s Day,” Mr Fahey said.

“I do so as the son of proud Irish parents. My parents were forced in the aftermath of the Great Depression to look for somewhere else to effectively survive.”

“My mother was the youngest of thirteen children and my father was the fourth of twelve children and they scattered, as did many Irish in the decade of the ‘30s.”

An interview article with the Hon. John Fahey AC will be published next week.
