Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP invites everyone to immerse themselves in the spirit of Christmas at St Mary’s Cathedral, from December 17 to Christmas Day. This year’s event promises to be more magical than ever, with illuminated scenes inspired by the beloved story of the Little Drummer Boy.
The St Mary’s Cathedral forecourt will transform into a festive wonderland, featuring vibrant market stalls, exhilarating live musical performances, and an array of family-friendly activities. Best of all, entry to this joyous occasion is free – perfect for those looking to create lasting memories with loved ones.

“This year, the Cathedral’s majestic façade will be adorned with a stunning display of over 30 million pixels, bringing to life the heartfelt message of the Little Drummer Boy,” said Archbishop Fisher. “This story reminds us that true sacrifice and worship come from the heart, not from material wealth. It’s a celebration of love and humility that resonates with all of us.”
For the first time, guests will also have the opportunity to explore the beautifully illuminated crypt below the Cathedral, enhancing the overall Christmas experience for families and visitors alike.
“Christmas at the Cathedral is a place where everyone belongs and where the light of Christmas shines brightly for all to see,” added Archbishop Fisher. “We invite you to join us in celebrating the true Reason for the Season.”
