As the Church in Australia prepares to mark National Vocations Awareness Week, the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has set up a new online portal to highlight vocation in its many forms.

National Vocations Awareness Week is celebrated each year across a week that includes the August 8 feast day of Australia’s first saint: St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. The week runs this year from August 7-14.

The new portal on the Bishops Conference website showcases the vocations of priesthood, the permanent diaconate, consecrated life, marriage and the single life.

Upon its launch, it includes video testimonies from two priests who work for the Bishops Conference, highlight videos from religious institutes, a link to podcasts from a pair of Josephite Sisters and information for people to consider when they are discerning their vocation.

Prayers about vocations, including ones relevant to National Vocations Awareness Week, have been shared. Vocation-related news will also be posted regularly.

Dioceses, religious institutes, discernment houses and other Catholic organisations are invited to submit content for consideration by emailing media@catholic.org.au.

While the portal has a particular focus on National Vocations Awareness Week, content will be added throughout the year.

Visit the portal at www.catholic.org.au/vocations

With thanks to the ACBC.
