Pilgrimage to the Holy Land – Day Fifteen

Each pilgrimage has provided a powerful formation experience, strengthening the faith of local Catholic leaders.

Led by Delegate of the Diocesan Administrator Rev Christopher de Souza PP, Greg Whitby, Chancery representatives, Catholic Education Office leaders and a small group of local principals are currently on pilgrimage to Jordan, Israel, Assisi and Rome.

There have been five pilgrimages in total, including journeys following in the footsteps of St Paul and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Each pilgrimage has provided a powerful formation experience, strengthening the faith of local Catholic leaders. In addition to supporting principals in their work of evangelisation, pilgrimages have also forged and strengthened collaboration and community between participants.

Desiree Rashada, Manager of People and Culture, will be sharing with us a small snippet each day of their experiences while on pilgrimage.

Day Fifteen

Today we visited sites around Assisi, starting at the Basilica of St Francis that houses the tomb of St Francis. We celebrated an early mass at the tomb.

We then travelled to the Church of St Damiano, built on the site where St Francis heard the voice of Christ telling him to rebuild the church. We concluded our day with a visit to the peaceful Hermitage.
