Pilgrimage to the Holy Land – Day Five

Each pilgrimage has provided a powerful formation experience, strengthening the faith of local Catholic leaders.

Led by Delegate of the Diocesan Administrator Rev Christopher de Souza PP, Greg Whitby, Chancery representatives, Catholic Education Office leaders and a small group of local principals are currently on pilgrimage to Jordan, Israel, Assisi and Rome.

There have been five pilgrimages in total, including journeys following in the footsteps of St Paul and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Each pilgrimage has provided a powerful formation experience, strengthening the faith of local Catholic leaders. In addition to supporting principals in their work of evangelisation, pilgrimages have also forged and strengthened collaboration and community between participants.

Desiree Rashada, Manager of People and Culture, will be sharing with us a small snippet each day of their experiences while on pilgrimage.

Day 5

We left Lake Galilee today, heading west to the town of Haifa, which is the third largest city in Israel. We celebrated Mass at The House of Grace; a Catholic ministry that works with some of the most marginalised members of Haifa- Christians, Jews and Muslims. We travelled to Mount Carmel and visited Elijah’s Cave. In the late afternoon, we visited a Christian Co-operative and we all bought some authentic Holy Land souvenirs.
