PROCLAIM 2016 is a conference on the New Evangelisation organised and hosted on behalf of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference by the Diocese of Broken Bay from 1-3 September 2016. Early bird registrations are open until 27 June (three-day conference only).
Building on conferences in 2012 and 2014, PROCLAIM 2016 will draw together more than 500 participants to discuss, exchange and learn fresh ways in which parishes can become evangelising communities of the 21st Century, filled with missionary disciples who announce the profound joy and tender mercy of the Gospel.

Taking place in an Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, and on the eve of the canonisation of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, PROCLAIM 2016 will embrace the challenge of Pope Francis for the joyful and pastoral conversion of our parishes, so that our practices, resources, language and structures can be suitably channelled for the evangelisation of today’s world (Evangelii Gaudium 27).
As we enter “a new phase of evangelisation that (has) existed from the beginning” (Misericordiae Vultus 4), the aim of PROCLAIM 2016 is to reawaken parishes to new life, instil courage to look to the future with hope, and to promote the evangelisation of cultures and our world with new enthusiasm and renewed missionary intent.
Keynote speakers will focus on the potential for parishes to be genuine oases of mercy and centres for missionary outreach, while a variety of conference workshops presenters from Australia and abroad will offer some of the best practices, practical strategies and creative approaches by which this vision of the Gospel can be lived out by local communities of faith.

Keynote speakers include Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, Bishop Nicholas Hudson, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Westminster, Dr Susan Timoney, Secretary for Pastoral Ministry and Social Concerns at the Archdiocese of Washington, and Daniel Ang, Director of Evangelisation in the Diocese of Broken Bay.
These keynote speakers will be complemented by numerous workshops presenters from Australia and abroad who will offer to participants some of the best practices, strategies and creative approaches by which the mercy and joy of the Gospel can be lived out by local communities of faith. Participants will also enjoy conference liturgies, panel discussions on evangelisation, social media initiatives, and a night of praise and worship open to youth and young adults.
