Jesuit Mission Australia extends an invitation to their upcoming webinar – Hope For Families Fleeing Ukraine, on Thursday 1 June at 6:00pm AEST.
During the 45-minute webinar, special guest Fr Marius Talos SJ, project partner of Jesuit Mission and Director of Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Romania, will provide an update on the Jesuits’ emergency response, uplifting vulnerable families who fled to Romania.
In addition, Ukrainian refugee Anastasiia will share her story on how she fled from Ukraine to Romania with her son and now works for JRS Romania, assisting other Ukrainians in need.
With the support of Jesuit Mission, JRS Romania has been welcoming Ukranian refugees at the border and providing them with emergency assistance, as well as hope and opportunity for over one year.
“Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the round the clock emergency assistance provided by our Jesuit partners overseas, over 15,000 refugees have received support in Romania alone,” said Helen Forde, CEO of Jesuit Mission.
This assistance includes immediate, life sustaining relief such as emergency accommodation, food vouchers and financial and mental health support.
With no end to the war in sight, the Jesuits will continue to support Ukrainian refugees long-term with education opportunities, employment support, legal assistance and ongoing accompaniment to integrate into their new country.
JRS Romania, as part of the JRS Europe and Xavier Network humanitarian response, has offered more than 40,000 services to the Ukrainian community since the war started.
