Women and the Australian Church (WATAC) have announced a new session in their online interactive formation series WATAC in Dialogue. The session will ‘Rethink’ women’s participation in the Catholic Church in the light of the four-year international Church renewal process known as synodality.

“For many Catholic women there is a sense of despair about their place in the Church,” said Andrea Dean WATAC President. “However, in the Global Synod, people are speaking up, women from every continent are saying they want to participate fully in the life of the Church. The title of the Vatican document is Enlarge the space of your tent, and I think there is both hope and challenge in those words.”

“As the session falls in Advent, we plan to use a contemplative approach to deeply examine simply the five paragraphs from the Vatican synthesis document that relate to specifically to women,” said Andrea. “All are welcome to join via Zoom.”

WATAC in Dialogue is on 14 December at 8pm (AEDT). Register via the website (www.watac.net.au) or via the link here.

Women and the Australian Church (WATAC) commenced in 1984 as a national project of the Religious women and men of Australia. WATAC is Catholic by origin, ecumenical by membership and is committed to working with other churches and faiths. WATAC is responsible for the podcast Australian Women Preach.

With thanks to Women and the Australian Church (WATAC).
