The Role

The Director, Office for Clergy Health & Wellbeing, will lead the implementation of the Diocesan strategy to support and enhance the wellbeing of the clergy of the Parramatta Diocese.  The Director will lead a team whose service facilitates and supports effective ministry, healthy ageing and thriving in retirement for all Diocesan clergy.

The Office for Clergy Health & Wellbeing will deliver a new model of care and support to clergy.  It has been developed by the Diocese in 2016.  The model draws on existing Diocesan services and will source and co-ordinate new services (external and funded) to benefit the wellbeing and healthy ageing of Diocesan clergy.

The Director will ensure the major pillars of the Diocese’s Policy Framework for Clergy Wellbeing for Effective Ministry are communicated, understood and embedded in practice.

The Office will also be the secretariat for the Clergy Support Foundation and the Management Committee of the Clergy Remuneration and Retirement Plan.  The Director will be secretary to both groups.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading “the go to service” for clergy support services.
  • Implementing the Policy Framework for Clergy Health and Wellbeing for Effective Ministry.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of the Diocesan Healthy Living Plan.
  • Transitioning staff and engaging service providers to deliver the new model to support clergy health and wellbeing.
  • Managing the Diocesan residences at Baulkham Hills and Harris Park.
  • Being a contributing member of the Chancery Executive Team.

About You

To be successful and effective in this role you will bring the following qualities and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or relevant demonstrated experience in management and service co-ordination in the health or community services sector.
  • A demonstrated personal commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church and a personal commitment to the Catholic Faith.
  • Vision, energy and flexibility to implement the Diocesan policy that will successfully establish the Office for Clergy Health and Wellbeing as “the go to service” for clergy support services.
  • Proven ability to lead a person-centred, integrated approach to service delivery.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, presentation and public relations skills that demonstrate your ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Proven senior experience in a complex organisation with the ability to interact effectively with multiple and diverse stakeholders, including clergy, government and community service providers in health and aged care.
