For the first time in over 40 sessions, Worship Wednesday was brought to us from across the ditch, as Auckland-based Catholic trio The Sations lead us in praise and worship New Zealand-style.
The Sations is regularly made up of husband and wife Dom and Laura and their sister Rachel. But due to illness and Auckland’s current lockdowns that mirror what we are facing in Greater Sydney, it was Dom leading the session alone.
In referencing 1 Kings 19:9-15, Dom explained that like Elijah, we may have felt during this time that we are separated from God and looking for signs that God is with us.
“How do you sense God at this time?” he asked. “How is it that you know that God is listening to you? Do you have moments of silence in your life or is it full with other things or other places where we are looking for those signs of Christ being present with us?
“Where is it in my life, in all areas of my life, have I invited Christ to be present? Have I set aside all areas of my life and devoted them to Christ, or have I just given Him some parts of my existence?”
Dom prayed that throughout the coming week, we can place Jesus at the centre of everything that we do.
“Looking to Christ for our relief, looking to Christ for our hope, looking to Christ when we feel angry, looking to Christ when we feel upset, when we’re hopeful – in all these times, we can look to Christ,” he said.
The Sations formed towards the end of 2018 and have been gaining international acclaim, winning the 2019 International Songwriting Competition in the Christian category for their song ‘Floodgates.’
