For Jaimee Pearson, 2024 is a case of back to where it all began, as she starts out her teaching career at the very same school she attended Kindergarten years ago.

“It feels like coming home, I loved being here at St Monica’s [Primary School, Richmond],” said Jamiee. “It’s a great school, and I want to be able to give the same opportunities I had to current and future students.”

Jaimee expressed that her aspiration to become a Catholic teacher was firmly established by the cherished memories and values cultivated during her school years. The bond to St Monica’s transcends generations, as Aimee’s mother Frances, grandmother Mary, and numerous cousins also attended the primary school.

“It’s a circle, a community, a family,” said Mary. “We all just belong.”

As Jaimee steps into her role as a teacher, she brings with her not just academic knowledge but a deep understanding of the community.

“I grew up with the values they teach at St Monica’s and Bede Polding College where I went to secondary school. They’re really important to me, and that gives me a lot of comfort and confidence coming in here as a teacher,” she explained.

“There’s no doubt she’ll be nervous but feeling like she already belongs to the place certainly helps,” added mum Frances.
