These two gems complement each other and would make a value contribution for those who seek a more reflective and mediative approach to the daily readings.
Over recent years, I have, with many others, used God’s Word (2024) to read and reflect on the daily liturgical reading. Each day has a reflection to focus the reader’s meditation and space for personal notes on the readings.
Brendan Byrne brings the wealth of his biblical scholarship in Sharing the Treasure. Byrne has revised the reflections he shared though many parish bulletins for each Gospel reading over the three-year cycle.
Like others, I would read these before the Sunday Eucharist (or during the homily when distracted) to provide a focus for reflection.
Both books are valuable tools for personal reflection, Lectio Divina and for scripture sharing.
