The Choir of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta will lead a liturgy of Prayer and Reflection on the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ this Monday, based on the ancient Office of Readings (Matins) and Morning Prayer (Lauds). Features of this liturgy include the chanting of psalms and readings, with beautiful a cappella music sung by St. Patrick’s Cathedral choir. Tenebrae, a ‘Liturgy of Light & Shadows’ will feature musical works from Byrd, Tallis and Bruckner.
Commencing in the light of early evening, candles are gradually extinguished until the service concludes in darkness. One solitary candle the “Christ” candle remains burning, symbolising the light of Christ in our world.
