The Church in Australia is gearing up for Ignite Conference, a national Catholic conference to be held at the end of September in Brisbane and Greater Sydney.

In this World Youth Day year, everyone is aware of the vibrancy brought to a Church that gathers together – but not everyone can afford international travel.

Ignite Conference is an experience of a gathered Church that’s accessible to anyone who can’t afford to be at World Youth Day but still wants to experience large-scale gatherings of Catholics on fire with faith.

Ignite Conference is a bold vision for the future of the Church, a vision to see the Church transformed by an influx of young people and passionate adults on fire for Jesus because of their undeniable encounter with Him.

Ignite Conference is that place of encounter, with something for everyone – from leaders to first-time believers.

This year, more than 80 national and international Catholic speakers will be presenting across the two conferences, including Archbishop Mark Coleridge, Bishop Anthony Randazzo, Fr Rob Galea, Sam Clear, Missionaries of God’s Love Sister Therese Mills and Brendan Malone.

They will join the Ignite Conference team including director Kym Keady, Pat Keady, Liam Desic and Emmanuel Worship.

Ignite Conference is an opportunity to experience the Church fully alive in faith, through the dynamic worship and preaching in the rallies, meeting Jesus through the power of the sacraments, inspiring workshops during the day, and the positive experiences of the festival and ministries expo.

Our 2023 theme is “Wonder”. At a time when our world is marked by fear and uncertainty, we need the God of wonders to remind us of all that is good and true; that Jesus is present and powerful and able to move mountains in our lives.

We hope to see the Church in Australia led by a wonder-filled generation ready to transform all around them into colour and light.

The Ignite Conference is run by Ignite Youth, the national youth ministry that springs out of the Emmanuel Community, Brisbane.

It has been growing in impact for more than 20 years, reaching thousands of young people and adults across Australia and New Zealand.

It draws together a network of high-schoolers, young adults, ministry leaders, families, teachers, priests and religious from around the country, sending them out with a passion for mission and authentic faith in Jesus.

Ignite Conference will be held in Brisbane at St Laurence’s College from September 21-24, and then in Greater Sydney at the Broken Bay Cathedral Precinct, Waitara, from September 28 to October 1.

Delegates can attend individually or as part of a group with their faith community. For all enquiries about registration or groups, contact rego@igniteyouth.com. Registration and full information are available at www.igniteconference.com.au
