The conclusion to a series of national webinars will give members of the faithful the opportunity to reflect on the joys and struggles of 2020.
The December webinar, hosted by the Pastoral Ministry Network, is shifting gears and moving into a time of recollection.
As we finish a year that has thrown many challenges and opportunities to us all, this time of reflection allows us to come together as the Church of Oceania to celebrate, and even lament, the year that was.
The webinar will be hosted online via Zoom on Tuesday 8 December, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception from 11am AEDT.
The newly launched Oceania Webinars offer regular gatherings for those in pastoral ministry to network, share resources and be inspired by new life and initiatives in the Catholic Church.
“To come together from different countries across Oceania in this format – itself being an opportunity that has arisen from this year – is a great expression and experience on one, holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church,” explains Richard McMahon, Director of Pastoral Planning and Implementation for the Diocese of Parramatta, who was the facilitator at the most recent webinar Exploring Best Practices for Pastoral Governance at the Service of Christ’s Mission.
Cathy Spencer, Director of Diocesan Outreach & Mission Services in the Diocese of Cairns has great hope for these Oceania Webinars for 2021. “The first two webinars saw registrations of approximately 230 each which demonstrates a hunger for this type of gathering.
“It is great to have something like this on a regular basis which is easily accessible, especially for people in areas where it is often difficult to attend face-to-face conferences.
“Finishing off this year with an Advent recollection and to have these webinars continue in 2021 is a great asset to our Church in the Oceania region,” she said.
