Last Friday, The Hon. Prue Car MP, Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Early Learning and Minister for Western Sydney, returned to her former high school, Caroline Chisholm College Glenmore Park, for a special assembly to mark the start of International Women’s Week.

As well as current student leaders, representatives from different year groups spoke about what International Women’s Week means to them and the women who inspire them.

Speaking of her own experience of female role models, Minister Car, who was the College Captain in 2000, said: “Two of the most inspirational women in my life were both teachers, one was principal and one was an English teacher here at Caroline Chisholm. Those women really encouraged all of us to be what we dreamed we could be, whatever that might be.”

Minister Car was also presented with the inaugural Caroline Chisholm College Alumni Award which will annually recognise a former student or staff member who demonstrates the values of faith, courage, compassion, dignity and tolerance, and a strong commitment to serving the wider community.

With thanks to Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese.
