Here’s a unique opportunity to support the mission of the Church in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, utilising your extensive generalist Human Resources experience. You’ll be managing a wonderfully authentic and vibrant team in providing operational and strategic support to the Chancery office of the Diocese of Parramatta, its parishes, and Diocesan agencies. About the role
As Manager People & Culture, you will support the mission of the Diocese of Parramatta by ensuring the proper management of Human Resources services. You will provide high level operational and strategic support in all areas of Human Resources, including but not limited to, Human Resources advisory and employment relations, culture and change support, recruitment, learning and development, performance development and review processes, performance management, Workplace Health and Safety, workplace investigations and Payroll. You will be involved in implementing projects, frameworks and policies and procedures to meet current and future organisational requirements across the Diocese of Parramatta.
About you
Key to this role is your genuine passion for helping people. Just as important is your willingness to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
Specifically, as the successful candidate you will ideally meet the following Essential Requirements:
- A demonstrated understanding and preparedness to commit to the ethos and values of the Diocese of Parramatta and the Catholic Church.
- Senior level Human Resources experience (minimum 7+ years’ experience in generalist Human Resources).
- Ability to provide specialist advice to senior leadership on Human Resources best practice, grievances and performance management, complex employee relations matters, recruitment and retention, WHS legislation and standards and organisational development.
- Sound knowledge of contemporary HR best practices.
- Experience in leading HRIS/Payroll systems.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic People and Culture frameworks and policies.
- Credible and engaging communicator with highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to people easily with a sense of humility.
- Ability to interpret and apply employment legislation, award interpretation, policies, guidelines, and administrative practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team manager and experience in managing and supervising staff.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with multiple and diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Maturity, empathy, and resilience to deal with challenging matters.
- Ability to operate with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills across MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
- Relevant experience working in a not-for-profit environment (desirable).
- Understanding of the Catholic Church, its mission, and its unique challenges and opportunities (desirable).
