We’re hiring! Prevention, Healing & Support Specialist

Prevention, Healing & Support Specialist, Diocese of Parramatta

Prevention, Healing & Support Specialist, Diocese of Parramatta

About the Role

The Safeguarding arm of the Diocese of Parramatta is growing! We are after a Prevention, Healing & Support Specialist to work in our newly created Prevention, Healing and Support team serving the Catholic Church of Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains. You will work with the team to drive a child-safe culture in the Diocese, parishes, and its related agencies, in line with the Bishop of Parramatta’s Statement of Commitment to the safety and care of all children and vulnerable persons.

In your role, you will implement strategies to embed the Child Safe Standards into the Diocese’s daily practices and keep children and vulnerable adults safe from harm through prevention, compliance, and outreach. You will also be developing resources to support Diocesan stakeholders with safeguarding initiatives, delivering education and training to Diocesan agencies and ministries, and caring for survivors of abuse. This role will have an emphasis on case management of victims of abuse/survivors in a trauma-informed way.

Being a newly created team, there is scope to make this role as diverse and creative as you are willing to make it. This role will provide you the ability to continue to be inspired and rewarded by the work, as well offer many opportunities for professional and personal development.

About You

Ideally, you will have demonstrated experience in working in social work/counselling in the areas of child abuse and well-developed knowledge of relevant child protection legislation, the NSW Child Safe Standards, case management and trauma-informed care. Experience delivering adult education and training will be highly favoured.

A demonstrated understanding and preparedness to commit to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Parramatta is a must. It is necessary that your stakeholder management skills are at a high level, along with outstanding written and communication skills. You will require maturity, empathy, and resilience to deal with challenging matters. We are happy to consider both full-time and part-time for the right candidate.
