Bishop of Parramatta, Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv is among the keynote speakers and presenters who will share their thoughts on hope and social issues at Hope in Action 2025 in Sydney next month.
Hosted by Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) and held every two years, the two-day national conference will run on 19-20 March 2025 at the Commonwealth Bank Australia’s Head Office in Darling Harbour.
This year’s theme, Hope in Action, aligns with the Holy Year 2025 Jubilee – a time of spiritual renewal, unity, and resilience, inspired by Pope Francis’ call for us to be Pilgrims of Hope amidst life’s challenges.
This special event offers a unique opportunity for spiritual reflection and advocacy for social justice, and includes special guest, newly appointed Cardinal Mykola Bychok, as well as the Federal Minister for Social Services The Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, lawyer Kathleen Donnellon, economics Professor David Gilchrist, and more.
As the Church embarks on this sacred journey, we are reminded of the importance of standing in solidarity with those in need, especially in the face of deep social challenges.
Key topics for the conference include the pressing issues of child poverty, homelessness, family violence, and systemic inequality – issues that remain central to our mission of creating a more just and compassionate society.
A highlight will be the unveiling of the research report Real Costs, Real Impacts: A Path to Community Services Sustainability, presented by Professor David Gilchrist from the University of Western Australia Centre for Public Value.
This is a gathering for anyone committed to making a difference. Don’t miss the chance to engage in meaningful conversations and learn from the voices of advocacy and faith. Let us come together in faith and action, building a brighter, more compassionate future for all.
Registration essential, and fees apply. Visit the Diocese of Parramatta’s Events page to find out more.
