The Diocese of Parramatta wishes its former shepherd, Bishop Emeritus Kevin Manning a happy 90th birthday.
Bishop Manning was appointed as the second Bishop of Parramatta on 10 July 1997, and was installed at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta, on 21 August 1997. He served as Bishop until his retirement on 4 March 2010, when he was succeeded by Bishop Anthony Fisher.

He attended St Columba’s College, Springwood, where he later began his studies for the priesthood. He was selected to complete his studies at the Propaganda Fide College in Rome, where he was ordained to the priesthood on 21 December 1961.
From 1962 to 1978, he served as a priest of the Diocese of Bathurst.
In 1978, he was appointed Assistant Secretary to the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference in Canberra for five years, and then as Secretary from 1983 to 1991.
In 1991, Bishop Manning was appointed the eighth Bishop of Armidale, NSW, where he served until his appointment as Bishop of Parramatta in 1997.
On behalf of Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv, and the whole Diocese of Parramatta, we wish the second bishop of our Diocese a very happy birthday and ask that you keep him in your prayers.
