Deacon Owen Rogers, assisting Deacon at Corpus Christi Parish, Cranebrook, died on Tuesday 2 November 2021, aged 80.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Deacon Owen will be celebrated on Friday 12 November at 10am at Corpus Christi Parish, Cranebrook.
Since issuing the information about the funeral arrangements for Deacon Owen Rogers at Corpus Christi Parish, Cranebrook, at 10am this Friday 12 November, we write to advise that NSW Health has sent us further communications in relation to restrictions. We have been informed that only those who are vaccinated can attend Deacon Owen’s funeral, otherwise a limit of 10 attendees will apply for a funeral. This applies for funerals held inside a place of worship.
In order to comply with the public health requirements and to allow for more people to pay their last respects to Deacon Owen, only those who are able to provide evidence of their fully vaccinated status will be able to attend the Mass and proceed to the Penrith General Cemetery. Registration with their QR code and the wearing of face masks is compulsory.
The Mass will also be livestreamed on YouTube via https://youtu.be/-t0XLRuMUFo from 10am.
There will be a viewing on Thursday 11 November from 5pm to 6pm at the parish, which will be organised in accordance with health regulations. Morning Prayer of the Office for the Dead will take place on Friday 12 November at 9.15am at the parish.
Deacon Owen was ordained to the Permament Diaconate by Bishop Kevin Manning on 5 December 2009. Deacon Owen actively contributed to Masses and parish life as Deacon for 11 years. During the most recent lockdowns, his health deteriorated, and sadly for his parish, he was unable to return. His beloved wife, Jeanette, died on 4 October 2020.
