The Communications Team at the Diocese of Parramatta is growing, and we are after an energetic Communications Assistant to play a pivotal role in the efficient running of our team. You will be involved in the creation and editing of communications materials for the Catholic Church and its agencies in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

 

About the role

The Communications Assistant position will suit someone who has recently finished a Communications or Media degree and is looking for a role that will give them exposure across all fields of communication, including marketing, internal and external communications, media, advertising, editorial, social media and digital media.

The Communications Assistant will be responsible for the overall administrative tasks of the communications function and will further assist with coordinating events, managing advertising for our Diocesan print magazine, reporting, uploading content onto digital and social platforms and assisting with the implementation of communication strategies.

 

About You

Above all, the ideal person will have a positive and ‘can-do’ attitude, with 1-2 years’ experience in a similar communications role, or they will have recently graduated from a Communications or Media degree. A demonstrated understanding and preparedness to commit to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Parramatta is a must.

It is essential that the person has exceptional written and verbal skills as well as strong organisational skills and attention to detail. The person must have excellent knowledge of social and digital media, office management software (Microsoft 365) and other design and web tools (Adobe, WordPress).
