At The Well Episode 16 is live

14 December 2020

Episode 16 of the At The Well podcast is now available.

In their final episode for 2020, co-hosts Catholic Youth Parramatta’s Local Engagement Leader, Qwayne Guevara, and Assistant Director Rosie Drum mgl, and writer and mother Joy Adan, answer the question ‘How do I deal with the pressure of having to keep up or be all things to all people?’

Sr Rosie said, “I think it’s in the nature of women to feel the pressure of fixing all the things around, not just in my family, but to help other mothers and other young women. It’s God-given, it’s the nurturing aspect of who we are.”

Qwayne added, “So often we desire stability and a sense of security and certainty in terms of our everyday life. But I think 2020 really put into perspective just how unexpected life can actually be and anything that we really might decide to root ourselves in in the world, there is no guarantee that it’s going to last.

“When it comes to how we go about dealing with the pressure of things, we need to see that it often goes beyond what is around us, and we need to go to God and to Jesus and to be planted in Him, because it can be internally draining for us if we don’t realise that the external pressures are the things that are keeping us from being centred.”

This episode was Sr Rosie’s last as Assistant Director of Catholic Youth Parramatta, however, she hopes to continue to contribute to the podcast in the new year, wherever God and her ministry takes her.

The idea to start a podcast for women followed the success of several “At the Well” evenings for young women, which were inspired by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference’s Year of Youth.

The podcast, the hosts explain, is a chance to build on the joys of the At The Well evenings on a more regular basis, a chance to give a feminine perspective on questions of faith and life, and to continue the conversations sparked during the face-to-face gatherings.

At The Well is an initiative of the Diocese of Parramatta, through its youth ministry Catholic Youth Parramatta.
