Join St Patrick’s Cathedral Choir

St Patrick’s Cathedral Choir, Parramatta is recruiting singers! This is an exciting opportunity to join a group of highly talented musicians. Choral scholarships are also available to singers who demonstrate advanced vocal skills and musical leadership qualities. Bishop’s Lenten Appeal

The Ephpheta Centre, supported by the Parramatta Catholic Foundation, gives hope, compassion, connectivity and care to the deaf and hard of hearing. Your kind-hearted support will provide chaplaincy and pastoral care for the vulnerable and isolated, in homes, hospitals, prison and aged-care facilities. Office of Tenebrae: 15 April

The Office of Tenebrae 2019 is part of Holy Week celebrations with a reflection liturgy including Scripture, psalm chanting and motets. Tenebrae will be held at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta at 7:30pm on 15 April 2019 and will be led by Bishop Vincent Long.

Chrism Mass: 17 April

Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv will be the Principal Celebrant at this year’s Chrism Mass at 7.30pm in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta. The Mass will be concelebrated by the priests of the Diocese of Parramatta, assisted by the deacons. During the Mass, the Oil of the Catechumens and the Oil of the Sick will be blessed and the Oil of Chrism consecrated. These holy oils will then be given to the parishes for use during the year. During the Mass, the priests renew their commitment to priestly service.

Good Friday Night Walk: 19 April

Join over 1,500 youth and young adults on Good Friday from 10pm on one of two overnight ‘routes of reflection’ from either Guildford Parish or Blacktown Parish, through five parishes to St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta. Registrations are mandatory. More details at:

Bach at St Finbar’s on Good Friday: 19 April

The traditional candle light Good Friday service from 7.30pm at St Finbar’s, Glenbrook will be a highlight of this year’s Lenten Season. Featuring the music of JS Bach and sacred readings, the Blue Mountains Chorale will be joined by Sydney City Organist, Robert Ampt, who will direct the choir as well as perform several Bach works on the organ. IFM Workshop: 24 April

The second half of life enrichment at the Institute for Mission offers an encouraging workshop for men and women who are over 50 years of age “From Invisible to Invincible – Embracing God’s gift of years.” Held on 24 April from 10am to 1pm and 1 May from 6pm to 9pm. Divine Mercy Devotion: 28 April

Divine Mercy Sunday Devotions will be held at St Nicholas of Myra Parish, Penrith. Starts at 2.30pm 28 April and includes: Blessing of Divine Mercy Image; Chaplet of Divine Mercy; Stations of the Cross; Homily and Benediction; Reconciliation until 4pm; Afternoon tea 4.15pm – 5.15pm; Divine Mercy Mass at 6pm.

Raising Lazarus Retreat Day: 7 May

Interfaith Relations after Christchurch: 10 May

CCD invites all parishioners and friends to attend “Christian-Muslim Relationships after Christchurch – Our Responsibility,” presented by Rev Dr Patrick McInerney, Director of the Columban Centre for Christian-Muslim Relations on Friday 10 May at the IFM Blacktown. Light to the Nations (LTTN) 2019: 18 – 21 April

LTTN is an Easter Pilgrimage event held biannually for Catholics (singles and families) aged 16+. Camp under the open skies with 1,000 other young people as we celebrate the Easter Triduum. Vocation Discernment for Young Women: 23 April

A vocation discernment day for women aged 16-29 will be held at Mt Schoenstatt. The theme will be ‘Here I Am, the Servant of the Lord’ (Luke 1:38). 1 million rosaries: 3 – 5 May

The One Million Rosaries for Unborn Babies multinational pro-life prayer event is scheduled for 3, 4 and 5 May this year.  Persons participating will pray at least one Rosary for the protection of the unborn. For details and to register go to:
