At The Well Episode 15 is live

18 November 2020

Episode 15 of the At The Well podcast is now available.

In this month’s episode, co-hosts Catholic Youth Parramatta’s Local Engagement Leader, Qwayne Guevara, and Assistant Director Rosie Drum mgl, and writer and mother Joy Adan, answer the question ‘What is the point of suffering?’, reflecting on a passage from Paul’s Letter to the Romans (5:3-5).

“A lot of the time, certainly for me, when I have felt like I was going through something that no one else could understand, that amplified the feeling of suffering. But the moment I reached out and either shared what I was going through with somebody that I trusted and valued their opinion, that automatically helped,” Joy said.

“I remember a priest had said to me ‘when we suffer, we can unite our pain to Christ in his crucifixion, that is the beauty in our Catholic faith.’ Our suffering is never done in vain, there is glory in our suffering, and God allows it because he can use it for good,” she added.

The idea to start a podcast for women followed the success of several “At the Well” evenings for young women, which were inspired by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference’s Year of Youth.

The podcast, the hosts explain, is a chance to build on the joys of the At The Well evenings on a more regular basis, a chance to give a feminine perspective on questions of faith and life, and to continue the conversations sparked during the face-to-face gatherings.

At The Well is an initiative of the Diocese of Parramatta, through its youth ministry Catholic Youth Parramatta.
