As the Church celebrates Vocations Awareness Week, Bishop Vincent Long, Bishop of Parramatta and seminarians from the Holy Spirit Seminary will lace up their running shoes and take part in the iconic City2Surf fun run tomorrow to raise awareness of vocations.

The Diocese of Parramatta team will join thousands of participants in the annual Sydney event, running 14km from Sydney to Bondi. They will use the opportunity to share the joy of their own vocational journeys, encourage others to consider God’s invitation in their lives and highlight the importance of nurturing future priests and leaders within the Church.
More than a fun run, getting #Active4Vocations is a chance to show that bishops, priests and seminarians are ordinary men who have responded to an extraordinary call. It is also an opportunity to open conversations about the priesthood, especially among those who may not have considered it as a vocation.

Vocations Awareness Week is an invitation for the whole Church to pray for vocations and support those discerning a life of service. The participation of Bishop Vincent and our seminarians in City2Surf is a visible reminder that vocation is a journey of faith, hope and connection with others.
Please pray for our seminarians or consider donating to the team who are trying to raise $5,000. Your generosity will go the distance in helping our seminarians become priests. It takes at least seven years of university and theology studies to become a priest, along with prayers, love and support from family, friends and the community.
