Diocese of Parramatta update on the coronavirus

23 June 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Re: COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

NSW Health has revised the COVID-19 guidelines. The following are effective immediately, Wednesday 23 June 2021, and applicable for the next seven days across Greater Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

Places of Worship and Religious Services

The maximum number of people at places of worship will now be limited by the 4 square metre rule (rather than 2 square metres), both indoors and outdoors.

Weddings and Funerals

The maximum number of people at weddings and funerals will also be limited by the 4 square metre rule (rather than 2 square metres), both indoors and outdoors.

Singing

Indoor singing by the congregation is not permitted at this time. No information has been provided by NSW Health on choirs at this time. Further information will be communicated when this becomes available.

Face Masks

NSW Health continues to mandate that masks are to be worn at all indoor venues, including places of worship.

With my prayers during these times,

Very Rev Peter G. Williams
Vicar General & Moderator of the Curia
