Women and the Australian Church (WATAC) is delighted to announce that 1-day tickets are now available for the National Conference 2025. Registrations close on 30 September, so don’t miss this opportunity!

This year’s gathering will inspire and nourish women working for an inclusive, diverse and welcoming church. Since 1984, WATAC has advocated for women in decision-making, ministry and leadership, and the 2025 conference continues that mission with an exciting program of keynotes, panels, workshops and community.

A highlight of the conference will be keynote speaker Dr Julia Baird, a best-selling author and Walkley Award-winning journalist. Broadcaster on ABCTV, she is also a columnist for the Age and the Sydney Morning Herald. Acclaimed author, from the best-selling “Victoria: The Queen” to multiple award-winning “Phosphorescence” and most recently “Bright Shining” a beautiful and timely exploration of that most mysterious but necessary of human qualities: grace. She can also be heard discussing the stories you’re obsessing about, the stuff you’ve missed and the things that matter with Jeremy Fernandez on their podcast ‘Not Stupid’.

And for those joining with a 1-day ticket, there’s even more to look forward to:

  • Full access to all conference sessions on Saturday 15 November
  • The Conference Dinner on Saturday evening
  • Special guest speaker Cathy McGowan AO — former independent MP for Indi (2013–2019).

Cathy is a trailblazer in community-led politics, known for championing social justice by amplifying rural voices, advancing gender equity, advocating for Indigenous constitutional recognition, and promoting humane asylum seeker policies. Her leadership helped spark a national movement of independent candidates grounded in integrity and inclusion.

Whether you attend for a day or the full three-day gathering, you’ll:

  • Be inspired by women who lead with courage and conviction
  • Connect with others passionate about shaping a just and inclusive church
  • Gain energy, wisdom and encouragement for your own journey
