Pilgrimage to the Holy Land – Day Eleven

Each pilgrimage has provided a powerful formation experience, strengthening the faith of local Catholic leaders.

Led by Delegate of the Diocesan Administrator Rev Christopher de Souza PP, Greg Whitby, Chancery representatives, Catholic Education Office leaders and a small group of local principals are currently on pilgrimage to Jordan, Israel, Assisi and Rome.

There have been five pilgrimages in total, including journeys following in the footsteps of St Paul and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Each pilgrimage has provided a powerful formation experience, strengthening the faith of local Catholic leaders. In addition to supporting principals in their work of evangelisation, pilgrimages have also forged and strengthened collaboration and community between participants.

Desiree Rashada, Manager of People and Culture, will be sharing with us a small snippet each day of their experiences while on pilgrimage.

Day Eleven

Today we started our Rome journey with a visit to St Peter’s Basilica and Mass near the tomb of St Peter. We then visited the Necropolis, the excavations under the Basilica. After a hearty Italian pasta lunch, we then toured the Vatican Museum, culminating in a visit to the Sistine Chapel.
