Pilgrimage to the Holy Land – Day Nine

Each pilgrimage has provided a powerful formation experience, strengthening the faith of local Catholic leaders.

Led by Delegate of the Diocesan Administrator Rev Christopher de Souza PP, Greg Whitby, Chancery representatives, Catholic Education Office leaders and a small group of local principals are currently on pilgrimage to Jordan, Israel, Assisi and Rome.

There have been five pilgrimages in total, including journeys following in the footsteps of St Paul and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Each pilgrimage has provided a powerful formation experience, strengthening the faith of local Catholic leaders. In addition to supporting principals in their work of evangelisation, pilgrimages have also forged and strengthened collaboration and community between participants.

Desiree Rashada, Manager of People and Culture, will be sharing with us a small snippet each day of their experiences while on pilgrimage.

Day Nine

A visit to Masada and the ancient remains of the fortress filled our morning. We then travelled to Jericho, the oldest city on the planet and celebrated mass before a traditional Palestinian lunch. A visit to the Mount of Temptation was next, with a stop to view St George Monastery to wrap up another amazing day.
