Saturday Sessions – Catholics, Media Mobs and the Culture of Contempt

25 May 2021

Saturday Sessions is an initiative of the Diocese of Parramatta held every Saturday and Monday via Zoom. All members of our Diocese and friends are welcome to attend.

The Saturday Session below was held by the Diocese on 24 and 26 April 2021. If you missed it, we invite you to listen to the recording and consider the discussion questions in your own time. You may even wish to organise your friends or parish group to watch and discuss the topic at a time convenient to you.

In this session, the Saturday Sessions community watched a presentation from Bishop Robert Barron from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on ‘Catholics, Media Mobs and the Culture of Contempt,’ which was originally presented at the 2021 LA Religious Education Congress.

Bishop Robert Barron talks about the opportunities and challenges that social media presents and how we respond through a lens of faith.

Saturday Sessions invites participants to watch a pre-recorded presentation in their own time or at a set time prior to discussion. A designated hour is set for a period of discussion about the presentation in small groups via an online video conferencing platform.

Sessions are held every Saturday at 9.15am and then repeated on Monday nights at 7.15pm. Check out the Diocesan Facebook page for weekly updates on the topic of the week.

The video, part of the Saturday Sessions series, alongside videos and other prayer resources are available on The Well, the popular video streaming site of the Diocese of Parramatta.

The Well can be found at www.thewell.org.au
