As the global Synod on Synodality looks to reignite and reimagine the Second Vatican Council, our local Church in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains is invited to discover what it means for the People of God.
The Diocese of Parramatta’s Mission Enhancement Team is hosting a short, three-session series titled FaithLIFE: Vatican II, to be held on Tuesday 14, 21 and 28 November from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Bishop Bede Heather Centre, Blacktown.
Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv, Bishop of Parramatta, will speak during the first session about the impact of the Second Vatican Council, the global Church’s pathway of synodality and how it influenced our recently held Diocesan Synod.
“As Catholics, we are called more than ever to listen, discern and act with Christian wisdom, integrity and truth. It is more important than ever that we do not lose sight of our calling which, according to the Second Vatican Councill, is a sacrament of God’s love for the world,” Bishop Vincent said during his homily for the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time in May.
Dr Anne Benjamin, who was a member of the Diocesan Synod’s writing group and a long-term parishioner of the Diocese, will also share her thoughts on how our Church is called to live Vatican II in our modern world.
All members of the faithful are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
