Couples struggling with fertility are invited to attend a special talk on Saturday 2 August from 1pm at the Bishop Bede Heather Centre, Blacktown, to explore natural and restorative reproductive healthcare.
Hosted by the Mission Enhancement Team, the Natural Fertility Seminar – Couples Hoping to Conceive event will introduce participants to the Creighton Model FertilityCare System, a method designed to help couples achieve pregnancy by charting and understanding their fertility with medical support.
“The session that we’re doing on 2 August… it’s basically a seminar in the Creighton Model, especially suited for couples who are struggling to conceive and having some kind of underlying issues with fertility,” said Vinetta Lobo, a FertilityCare Practitioner and trained counsellor.
The Creighton Model is unique in that it relies on standardised observations and charting of the biological markers, which in this case is the cervical mucus.
“This is really essential to point out women’s health and fertility.”
“It is a natural and effective method that allows the couple to use the system either to achieve or to avoid pregnancy or space pregnancies for that matter,” Vinetta explains.
“And it also helps to identify any kind of abnormal mucus patterns… or abnormal bleeding.”
More than just charting, the system works alongside NaProTechnology, a restorative medical science.
“It is a fully scientific method… all the hormonal events in the body align with what’s happening in the chart. It’s absolutely based on research foundation,” Vinetta said.
From introduction to insight: a year of guided learning
While the 2 August talk is an awareness session – giving couples the chance to meet Vinetta, connect with others, and hear from a NaProTechnology consultant – Vinetta explains that learning the Creighton Model requires commitment from the participating couples and a willingness to learn.
The Creighton Model spans about a year, with a mix of in-person and online sessions available to support couples, including those from non-English speaking backgrounds.
“It’s a commitment for the first year… but by the time you reach that fourth or fifth session, the woman gains that confidence in her ability to chart her observations and understand what’s happening in her charting, understand her body,” Vinetta says.
“It’s very comprehensive.”
The seminar on 2 August is free. Couples can register at parracatholic.org/natural-fertility. For more information about the Creighton Model, visit fccau.org.
