New Ambrose school-age care now open in Luddenham

Luddenham families welcomed the opening of Ambrose’s new school-age care service in Term 4 2024, co-located on the grounds of Holy Family Parish and Primary School.

It is the 55th school-age care service operated by Ambrose, a social enterprise of Community Ventures, providing a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children before and after school hours (also known as out-of-school-hours care, or OOSH care).

The latest service opening highlights the continued growth of Ambrose’s services in Sydney’s west, having more than doubled its number of services in the last five years.

Holy Family Luddenham Principal Donna McFadzean said it was very exciting to have Ambrose onsite.

“This is a quality service. Our students are so excited about the range of activities on offer,” she said.

“The relationship between the school and Ambrose ensures that the needs of our students are catered for. We invite all families to come and visit Ambrose to see exactly what is on offer.”

Ambrose School Age Care Holy Family Luddenham Service Coordinator Allison Ellerington said the new service has received a warm welcome.

“Here at Ambrose Holy Family Luddenham, we have been welcomed into the school community with the most welcoming hearts by the principal, teachers and families,” she said.

“As a result, this empowers us here at Ambrose to strive to ensure that we provide the children with the highest quality care through our amazing programs.”

Allison said the room’s design was part of ongoing consultation, having “drawn from the children’s interests and the family’s feedback from designing the room with the children and creating a homely environment for the children and families.”

“The children here at Ambrose are amazing, adventurous, funny, helpful and kind. I could list a million other amazing ways the children here are so great but I would run out of room,” said Allison.

“We will ensure this journey is happy and safe for the children, families, community, and school as we continue to grow our service within our school community.”

Community Ventures staff member Charlene Galindez is also a member of the Luddenham community. With her own child starting at the primary school next year, Charlene is keen for the new service to be embraced by Luddenham parish’s growing community.

“Having the dedicated educators and a designated space for the new Ambrose School Age Care service onsite at Holy Family Luddenham is incredibly valuable,” she said.

“It provides the convenience of children staying onsite in a familiar environment, offering peace of mind that they are safe, well cared for, and supported by trained educators.”
