150 Years of faith, service and family celebrated

By Sr Grace Roclawska CSFN, 30 September 2025

On 13 September 2025, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Australia joyfully celebrated the 150th Anniversary of the foundation of their Congregation—a milestone marked by deep gratitude, reflection, and unity.

The day began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration, led by Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv, Bishop of Parramatta, joined by priests, Sisters, and distinguished guests. The Mass was a heartfelt expression of thanksgiving for the charism bestowed upon Blessed Frances Siedliska, the Foundress of the Congregation, whose legacy continues to inspire generations of Sisters across the globe.

In her welcome address, Sr Malgorzata (Margaret) Kozub, Provincial Leader, beautifully captured the spirit of the occasion:

“As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on the providential guidance of the Holy Spirit, who continually renews the charism entrusted to us by our Foundress, Blessed Frances Siedliska.

“Her courageous response to God’s call, filled with love, trust and sacrifice, became the foundation of a spiritual legacy that endures to this day.”

She reminded all present of the Sisters’ enduring mission in Australia, which began over 70 years ago – walking alongside families, offering support, education, and care, and building communities of love and hope.

Following the Mass, the celebration continued in the hall, where guests enjoyed delicious food, cultural performances, and a vibrant display and merchandise area showcasing the Congregation’s history and mission. The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and a shared sense of purpose, as people from diverse backgrounds came together to honour the Sisters’ legacy.

The event was a powerful testament to the Congregation’s unwavering commitment to faith, family, and service.

As Sr Malgorzata expressed, the Sisters remain “grateful for our yesterday, appreciative of our today, and trusting in our tomorrow.”
