Last month, St Finbar’s Parish, Glenbrook held a special morning tea after Mass on Sunday 16 August to celebrate and promote our wonderful team of Catechists.

St Finbar’s have a team of 15 dedicated people working across six public schools in the lower Blue Mountains, bringing the Word and love of God to approximately 150 children who attend Catholic Special Religious Education (SRE).

They show children God’s love in word and deed, supporting families in providing a basic education for children in God our Creator, Jesus our Saviour, and the Holy Spirit within us inspiring us to live His Way.

At a high level, topics covered include Church Seasons, the Bible, the Sacraments, Saints, and God’s way of love and compassion. Truly, children deserve to hear this message no matter what school they attend. The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) in Parramatta provides three levels of training for SRE Teachers (only one compulsory), and all teachers use a Curriculum approved by the Bishop.

If you’d like to join this ministry in your local Parish, contact your Parish secretary or SRE Coordinator, or visit the CCD Parramatta website to find the Regional Coordinator for your Deanery: www.parra.catholic.org.au/ccd

It’s an amazing ministry, helping to inspire the next generation to love and serve Our Lord, Jesus.
