Thousands have entered through St Patrick’s Cathedral’s Door of Mercy, Parramatta after it was officially opened by Diocesan Administrator, Very Rev Peter Williams on 13 December 2015 to mark the beginning of the Jubilee Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis. Those who pass through the door can receive a plenary indulgence by walking through the door and committing to:
– Celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation
– Receiving the Holy Eucharist
– Praying for the Pope and being in union with his intentions as we commit to living active mercy
– Make the Profession of Faith
The Diocese of Parramatta has chosen the theme “Mercy has a Face”. There will be an exhibition within the Cathedral Chapel, as well as many events and exhibitions to mark the Jubilee Year.
