At St Paul the Apostle Primary Winston Hills, three siblings are stepping confidently into the spotlight, showcasing their growing talent in the traditional art of Irish dance.

Ava (Year 2), Emily (Year 4) and Riley (Year 6) dedicate themselves to the rhythm, precision and discipline that Irish dancing demands. From fast-paced footwork to carefully controlled movement, their training requires focus, resilience and regular practice – skills that extend well beyond the dance floor.

Their hard work has already brought impressive success, with the siblings competing in national Irish dancing competitions and earning prizes for their performances. Their achievements reflect not only their talent, but also their determination and commitment to continual improvement.

Earlier this year, the siblings had the opportunity to perform for their school as part of St Patrick’s Day celebrations. Performing in front of their peers helped build their confidence with public performance, while the enthusiastic support from classmates made the experience especially meaningful. Seeing fellow students cheer them on and embrace their talent gave the siblings an added sense of pride and belonging.

The school community has played an important role in encouraging the siblings’ passion, celebrating their commitment and supporting them as they develop both skill and confidence. Staff recognise the value of the performing arts in nurturing creativity, self-discipline and a strong sense of identity among students.

For Ava, Emily and Riley, Irish dance is more than a hobby; it is a shared family passion that strengthens their bond while allowing each child to grow at their own pace. Their achievements highlight the school’s commitment to celebrating student gifts in all forms.
